3D Golf Swing Analysis & TPI Assessment

Have you ever wondered how your golf swing will look in animation (or as a skeleton)? Using the Noraxon 3D MyoMotion software we are able to see exactly what is happening in your golf swing that could not be seen with the naked eye or even high-speed cameras. With a golf swing over in a few seconds, it is extremely beneficial to have quality technology at your disposal to help you have the best swing possible.

3D Motion Capturing

The 3D motion capture and analysis of the golf swing is like an MRI of your swing. Using 3D biomechanical measurements, we are able to measure each joint angle, segment speed individually and the relationship between how fast the movement is and the amount of movement in every part of your swing.

TPI Assessment

The (Titleist Performance Institution) TPI level 1 screening is a complete assessment of mobility, stability and functional movement patterns related to golf. This assessment will allow us to identify asymmetries. Mobility and stability are the building blocks of any golfer.

Power Assessment

The strength needed in a golfer is extremely specific. The Level 2 Power screening is a comprehensive assessment of power and strength which has a direct impact on clubhead speed. There are four main areas in which a golfer should have the proper strength to generate enough power.

Medical Assessment

If you might have any golf-related injury or rehabilitation, we are able to perform a Selective Functional Movement Assessment (SFMA) to pinpoint the cause of your musculoskeletal dysfunction and differentiate between mobility and stability problems.

After the evaluation, we provide feedback on your posture prior to the start of your swing, movement of your pelvis during the swing, and lumbar and thoracic movement. Furthermore, we give feedback on the swing range of motion, swing tempo, kinematic sequence, backswing sequence, transition sequence and downswing sequence. We also provide feedback on your power and medical assessment and construct a complete report to give feedback on how to improve your golf swing and address specific dysfunctions.

3D Running Analysis

It’s no secret that using a 3D system for running analysis will provide a great variety of biomechanical parameters, accurately and in real time. When dealing with runners, these systems help improve their technique, prevent injuries and assess recovery. But how is a running 3D analysis system used in practice?

With our Noraxon 3D MyoMotion software and we use nine body sensors and cameras to measure, record and analyse feet, ankles, knees and hips as you run. Capturing frames from every axis and creating an exact model of your gait will provide valuable information on the efficiency of your movements and help to identify asymmetries and other biomechanical errors.

Physical Analysis

We also perform a second part of the assessment where we evaluate your strength, mobility, functional movement patterns and proprioception using specialised equipment that will give us comprehensive feedback.

After combining the results from the 3D analysis and physical analysis, we can develop an individualised exercise programme designed to optimise your running. This evaluation is also an excellent form of baseline testing to measure future development.

Sport Specific Training

With state-of-the-art training facilities and equipment at Corne Steenkamp Biokineticists, we focus on sport-specific training such as long-distance running, triathlon athletes, tennis, squash, cricket, hockey, golf and cycling. Our main goal is to ensure you are able to perform your selected sport to the best of your abilities.

The Biodex Isokinetic testing machine is the benchmark machine used for objective and comprehensive strength testing and returns to performance assessments. With five modes to choose from - a passive movement mode, isometric mode, isokinetic mode, isotonic mode and reactive eccentric mode - it provides important information such as how the muscle contracts, peak torque to bodyweight ratio, speed of contraction and endurance as well as the amount of work that the muscle has to do to perform the movement. All this information will help the biokineticist to understand how your body is functioning.

Understanding the demands of the sport and performing the right type of testing protocol we can prescribe an accurate exercise programme that will mimic the demands of the specific sport and ensure your body can perform at an optimal level.
